Not a big plain keds fan...I think I left them back in the 80s with the double layer of folded over socks and the Guess jeans with the bows on the back. BUT I do have a small crush on
these summer sneaks that are an espadrille version of the classic shoe in a subtle striped metallic pattern...

Oh my god this cracked me up. I totally did the keds (laces out, of course) with the two pairs of socks and the guess jeans with the bows in the back. You just described my tween years to a T! And yes, these are much much better than the ones we rocked way back when. They have kind of a Tom's feel to them, no?

Came across your blog, and whilst reading this entry I had to glance down at my own shoes... I bought mine at H&M and they are almost the spotting image of the Keds.
No metallic details on them i'm afraid, but still has the stripy-espadrille feeling to them!
I too rock the Keds tennies daily. I wor have been wearing them for like 40 years and just love them. So comfy. I like the H&M version too.
